We spent Christmas at my parents’ house in the woods. My sister and her family also came up from California to celebrate with us. Christmas eve dinner: crab bisque.

When I read Sunday’s forecast of a “Wintry Mix” on Weather.com, I thought “What is this holiday-induced, eggnog-inspired, TV weatherman nonsense? Just tell me if we’re having rain or snow!” I quickly went to NOAA for a REAL weather forecast only to find they had, um, predicted the same thing. Turns out Wintry Mix is a real (albeit somewhat informal) meteorological term, meaning “rain or snow, or freezing rain – we’re not really sure what it’ll be”. And there you go.
